Shafiqur asks whether president will reconcile ‘conflicting accounts’ on Hasina’s resignation

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has accused President Mohammed Shahabuddin of “withholding key details” about the dramatic events of Aug 5, 2024, and the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister.

Shafiqur raised questions over “contradictions” in the president’s statements.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Shafiqur wrote that the president had failed to acknowledge what he had told political leaders present at Bangabhaban that day and what he later informed the nation.
