Shaheed Abu Sayeed, who was shot dead by police during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 16, has passed the written test of the 18th Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA).

Result of the written test was released on the NTRCA website on Monday afternoon.

The results showed that Md Abu Sayeed bearing roll no 201256297 passed the written test as an Ebtedaye Teacher (General) Language (Bengali and English).

Shaheed Abu Sayeed, a 12th batch student of the Department of English at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) appeared in the NTRCA written test on July 12 last, four days before embracing martyrdom in police firing in front of his university.

Abu Sayeed, a key coordinator of the student's quota reform movement for civil service jobs at BRUR, led the protest from the front during the movement.

On July 16 last, Sayeed was killed in police firing during the movement. He was buried in Pirganj upazila in the district the next day.

The martyrdom of Sayeed ignited the student-mass uprising adding decisive momentum to it propelling the second independence movement to free the nation from the 15-year-long dictatorship of the then-fascist Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Finally, Bangladesh achieved its second independence in exchange for the supreme sacrifice of Sayeed and many other brave students and people on August 5.
