Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Nasir Uddin has alleged that secret operatives of Islami Chhatra Shibir are orchestrating mobs against the organisation by using so-called general students.

The move was centred on the recent killing of a businessman in Old Dhaka, he told reporters on Monday just a while before starting a protest march from the BNP’s central office in Dhaka’s Nayapaltan.

He claimed that while multiple killings occurred across the country last week, misinformation was being spread selectively around the Mitford incident to mislead students.

The JCD general secretary also accused Shibir-linked secret operatives of running propaganda campaigns against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Nasir said their protest programme aimed to clarify Chhatra Dal’s stance and resist what he called “misguided efforts”, adding that the JCD did not support any form of unrest.

The march began around 3:30pm from BNP’s Nayapaltan central office and ended in Shahbagh, passing through Kakrail, Matsya Bhaban, the National Press Club, Curzon Hall, and TSC.

Leaders and activists from the JCD central committee, Dhaka University unit, city units, and various university, college, and thana units took part in the procession.
