Six more die from coronavirus in BD, 94 new cases

The death toll from coronavirus rose to 27 in Bangladesh as the country confirmed six more deaths on Friday.

This is the largest single-day death toll due to the virus in the country.

The tally of infections also soared to 424 after 94 people tested positive in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the health directorate.

The newly inefected -- 69 male and the rest female -- were found with virus infections after testing 1,184 samples  during the period under review.

IEDCR director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora disclosed the latest virus figures at an online press briefing this afternoon.

Meanwhile, as of Friday, the global death toll from coronavirus reached 95,837, according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates. 

The virus has so far infected 1,608,015 people, including those who died, around the world, the data shows.

Again, of the infected, 1,154,163 are currently being treated, and 49,137 of them are now in serious or critical condition.

Coronavirus was first reported in China in December last year.

As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
