Special OMS of rice, flour for flood victims over next three months

The Food Ministry has made special arrangements for open market sales (OMS) of rice and flour in the 14 districts where approximately six million people have been affected by flooding.
The OMS will be conducted over the next three months at the municipality and union levels.
This information was revealed at a press conference organised by the Food Ministry, held at the secretariat on Sunday.
Food Secretary Ismail Hossain said the OMS programme will be conducted from 230 centres. Each centre will distribute one tonne of rice and one tonne of flour.
A total of 28,980 metric tonnes of rice and flour, worth Tk 906 million, will be distributed between September and November.
Rice will be provided at Tk 30 per kg, loose atta at Tk 24, and packet atta at Tk 27.5.
Meanwhile, the regular OMS program is underway at 912 centres across the country, including 118 in Dhaka.
