Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam said on Wednesday that police superintendents have been placed on high alert in border districts to prevent any militants or terrorists from entering Bangladesh amid the escalating India-Pakistan conflict.
He made the disclosure at the closing ceremony of the Bangladesh Police Annual Shooting Competition 2024 in Gulshan-1 area of the capital.
He emphasised the heightened security to safeguard the national stability.
Additional IGP Md Mustafa Kamal and other officials were present at the event.
The IGP's directive follows India's Operation Sindoor airstrikes on early Wednesday, targeting alleged terror sites in Pakistan that Pakistan condemned as attacks on civilians.
