Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Friday called on all citizens to restore complete law and order and to prevent any further attacks on properties linked to Sheikh Hasina’s family, Awami League politicians, or any other individuals.
The anger of the activists who have attacked properties is understandable because they and their relatives and friends lived through years of tyranny under Hasina, said a spokesperson of the CA.
"The government understands the activists’ sense of outrage that, even from her refuge in New Delhi, Hasina continues to try to mobilise her militants to hamper Bangladesh’s recovery from her years of abuse," he said.
However, despite this understanding, the government urges all citizens to respect the rule of law, demonstrating to the world that Bangladesh is a nation committed to justice. The chief adviser emphasised that maintaining law and order is essential to distinguishing the new Bangladesh from the past regime. Any disregard for the law could threaten public safety and stability.
For those who participated in the movement that led to the fall of the Hasina regime in July and August, it is crucial to uphold the principles of justice, human rights, and lawful conduct. Advocates of a just Bangladesh must avoid actions that could be misinterpreted as similar to the oppressive tactics of the past regime, said the spokesperson.
"Our security forces are aware of this imperative. The government is working with the country’s security forces to preserve law and order and to protect the lives and property of all Bangladeshis. If any attempt is made to destabilize the country through any kind of provocative activities, law enforcement agencies will immediately take strict action against anyone acting to create chaos and anarchy, which emphatically includes the destruction of property. The government will bring the responsible individuals and groups to justice," added the spokesperson.
The leaders of the fascist regime have left the country in complete ruins. They have no chance of coming back as long as we remain alert and retain the moral high ground. Any attacks on their properties give them an excuse to draw international attention to themselves and spread their fabricated stories. We are in the process of trying them for their crimes against humanity. The whole world is with us. Any deterioration of law and order will send the wrong message to the world, the spokesperson of the CA said.
The chief adviser urged all citizens to contribute to building a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh by acting with discipline and channelling their energy into constructive efforts for national progress.
