In the wake of recent unexpected incidents at madrasas , police recovered the hanging body of a student from a Qawmi madrasa in Oxygen area under Bayazid thana in Chattogram early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman, 12, son of auto-rickshaw driver Anisur Rahman, a resident of Shershah Banglabazar area.
Ataur Rahman Khandaker, officer-in-charge of Bayazid Police Station, said on information, a team of police recovered the body from the Abu Bakkar Siddiq Al Islamia Madrasa around 12:00am.
Angered by the incident, locals put the madrasa under lock and key. They alleged that the madrasa authorities are involved in various illegal activities.
The OC said that they are investigating the incident.
Talking to reporters in front of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital morgue, victim's father Anisur Rahman said his son went home four days ago as Tarek Ahmed, a teacher of the madrasa, tortured him.
He sent back his son to the madrasa next day. On Wednesday evening, they received a phone call from the madrasa around 7:00pm when someone said that his son went missing, he said.
Then, they received another phone call around 9:00pm when it was said that his son committed suicide by hanging himself with the grill of a window of the madrasa
"It was a planned murder. My son could not commit suicide. He has been killed."
The teacher killed his son and staged the incident as suicide, said Anisur.
However, denying the allegation, Tarek Ahmed said that Habibur was seen playing in the field till evening and he went missing after Maghrib prayers. Later they found his body hanging in a room of the madrasa, reports UNB.
