Protesting students have cleared the Science Laboratory zone in Dhaka late Wednesday, ending hours of traffic disruption.
They announced fresh blockades simultaneously at three key points -- Science Laboratory, Tantibazar, and Technical intersections -- on Thursday, bdnews24.com reports.
The demonstrators, pressing for a university ordinance, had earlier staged simultaneous blockades at Science Laboratory, Tantibazar, Technical and Mohakhali Amtoli intersections, causing major congestion across the city.
The protesters vacated the Science Laboratory intersection around 5:45pm as traffic regained pace after nearly four and a half hours of disruption.
Around noon, students of Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College blocked Tantibazar intersection, while students of Mirpur Government Bangla College staged demonstrations at Technical.
Around 3pm, students withdrew from the Technical, Tantibazar and Amtoli intersections. However, they continued demonstrating at the Science Laboratory until 5:45pm.
