Students from DU, JU, BUET, Seven Colleges and various educational institutions of Dhaka will again stage a road blockade at Shahbagh at 9:30 pm on Wednesday to press for the resignation of KUET vice-chancellor.
This announcement was made by a coordinator of the movement, Mosaddeq Ali Ibn Mohammad, at 4 pm on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Earlier, they held a protest march under the banner: “Students of all educational institutions of Dhaka, including DU, JU, JnU, BUET, and Seven Colleges, stand beside KUET.”
The Dhaka-based students are expressing solidarity with the movement of the students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), where dozens of protesters have been on a hunger strike.
Mosaddeq said, “With sorrow we observe that, leaving KUET students in agony, the education advisor is going on tours. With just one signature of the education advisor, the issue could be resolved, but instead, they are pushing students toward death.”
“Many students are in the hospital. We don’t want to see even one more student in the hospital. There is still time—resign with respect. Otherwise, the student society knows very well how to make someone resign. We made Hasina flee.”
He said, “We don’t want public suffering. That’s why for the past four or five days, we held programmes on the campus. Though we blockaded Shahbagh briefly last night, the interim government didn’t pay attention. They are forcing us to take tougher steps.”
Mosaddeq also said, “They want to shift the blame on BNP to avoid responsibility. If the education adviser wants, they can remove this VC with one signature. They want to politicise it. We will not let this evil politics continue.”
