Sunny weather likely on Eid-ul-Fitr

Except for a few places in Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted sunny weather over the country, including capital city, on Saturday, supposed to be the day of this year’s holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

“The weather is likely to be sunny on Saturday (June 16) over the country, including capital city. But rain is likely to occur at many places over Sylhet division and at a few places over Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions,” Arif Hossain, a meteorologist at BMD told BSS on Thursday.

However, heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (89-mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in 24 hrs commencing from 11 am today, as strong monsoon deep convection is continuing over North Bay and adjoining coastal area of the country, he said.

Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hillyregions of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Besides, the met office in a press release, forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Barishal divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions in 24 hours as of 9:00am tomorrow (Friday).
