Nationalist Democratic Front (NDM) chairman Bobby Hajjaj, contesting the general election from Dhaka-6, on Sunday urged the Election Commission (EC) to suspend voting in 12 centres of the constituency.

To this end, he submitted a letter to the EC at around 10:45 am on the election day.

In the letter, Mr Hajjaj alleged that the activists of ruling Awami League-led Grand Alliance (Mohajote) candidate Kazi Firoz Rashid have forced the NDM polling agents out of at least 12 voting centres.

Some of the agents were also beaten and they were admitted to hospital, he said.

Among the polling centres in Dhaka-6 where Mr Hajjaj wants the voting to be suspended are Gendaria High School, Kabi Nazrul College, Wari Sorkari Biddalaya, Silver Dale School, Moniza Rahman School, KL Jubilee School and College.
