Amid ongoing protests surrounding the Public Service Ordinance, stringent security measures have been implemented around the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 27). Members of SWAT and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed to maintain order.

Only officials and employees working at the Secretariat are being allowed entry. Even journalists have been denied access to the premises.

From early Tuesday morning, personnel from SWAT, police, BGB, and Ansar have been stationed in front of the Secretariat, ensuring that no unauthorised individuals can enter. Entry is strictly limited to government officials and staff.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier announced that visitor access to the Secretariat would be restricted on Tuesday.

Although there is no official ban on media presence, journalists are still not being permitted to enter. Law enforcement officials at the gates have stated that a decision regarding journalist entry may be made after 12:00 pm.
