Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is inspecting the city’s cattle waste removal operations by visiting several places of the capital, officials have said.

Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony said the premier himself drove through different parts of Dhaka around 4pm on Friday.

Rony said, “He has gone out to see whether the cattle waste removal process in the capital is going well.”

Tarique’s convoy reportedly left his residence on Gulshan Avenue and passed through Gulshan-1, Hatirjheel, Rampura Road, Malibagh near Abul Hotel, Taltola Market and towards Basabo, Rony added.

It then continued through Kamalapur Stadium, Sayedabad Bus Terminal, Jatrabari intersection, Dholai Khal, Shahid Faruk Road, Dayaganj, Narinda, Ray Saheb Bazar, Court Road, Nayabazar, Bangshal Road, Gulistan, Shahbagh, Elephant Road, Dhaka University, New Market, Science Laboratory, Kalabagan, Mirpur Road, City College, Shimanto Square, Jigatola, Dhanmondi 27, Manik Mia Avenue and towards Mohakhali.

Authorities estimate that nearly 700,000 animals were sacrificed in Dhaka this year, generating over 55,000 tonnes of waste.

Dhaka’s two city corporations have been working for two days to remove the massive volume of waste as quickly as possible.
