Students of the Dhaka Polytechnic Institute blocked roads in the capital’s Tejgaon, demanding the fulfilment of their six-point demands.

The demonstration began around 10:00 am on Wednesday at the Satrasta intersection, halting all types of vehicular movement in the surrounding areas.

Mizdahul Islam Rifat, a student of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, said, “We have added a new demand to our previous six-point list. Our latest demand is to cancel the decision to promote lab assistants from the 16th grade to the 10th grade. We don’t want anyone to be appointed as a peon and later serve as our teacher.”

He added, “Many of our teachers have also expressed solidarity with our rightful movement. We will continue our protest until our demands are met.”
