Ten journalists receive accolades for in-depth judicial reporting

A total of 10 journalists from different media outlets have received "Media Award on Judicial Independence 2025" for their outstanding performance in-depth reporting on judicial independence and reforms.

They were conferred the award at a ceremony, jointly organised by National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh, at the auditorium of NIMC in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The awardees are Mohammad Didarul Alam (Daily Ittefaq), Mohammad Gulam Rabbani (Financial Express), Abu Saleh Rony (Dainik Samakal), Baharam Khan (Daily Star), Ehsanul Haque Jasim (Daily Sun), Md Iqbal Hossain (BTV), Shakera Arju (Ekushey TV), Habibul Islam (Star News), Asadur Rahman (Radio Padma) and Syeda Sabrina Mojumder (Desh TV).

This year, the award was given in two categories-- Print and Online, and Television and Radio. Five journalists received the award in the 'Print and Online' category, while five others in 'Television and Radio' category.

Certificates and prize money were distributed among all the awardees at the function.

Mahbuba Farzana, secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, attended the event as the chief guest while Muhammad Hiruzzaman, director general of NIMC, presided over it.

Musammat Rahima Akhter, director (admin and development) of the NIMC, delivered the welcome address, while Md Abdul Qayyum, head of communications of UNDP Bangladesh, delivered an address on behalf of the UNDP.

Paola Castro Neiderstam, first secretary at the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka, and Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, registrar of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, also spoke at the event.
