Ten killed in road crashes in Pirojpur, Faridpur

At least ten people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Pirojpur and Faridpur districts on Friday.

In Pirojpur, seven people were killed and many others injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a bus, a motorcycle and a battery-run autorickshaw, locally known as Easybike, in Sadar upazila of the district.

Md Ashikuzzaman, chief of the local police station, said the accident occurred on the Parerhat road in Jhautola early on Friday morning, reports bdnews24.com.

Three people died on the spot while four others were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

In a separate accident, three people were killed and 10 others injured when a bus veered out of control and overturned in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur.

The incident took place on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Sadardi early on Friday, according to Assistant Sub-Inspector Abu Saeed of Bhanga Highway Police Station.

Authorities have identified one of the three fatalities so far. He is Shafiqul Islam, 45, a native of Pabna's Santhia Upazila, reports the news agency.

The Imran Travels bus was headed to Dhaka from Barishal when it overturned in the Sadardi Babna Tala area, leaving passengers trapped inside, said Abu Zafar, station manager of Bhanga Fire Service.
