Students of the seven affiliated government colleges and Dhaka University (DU) students have taken opposing positions, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.

Around 11:00 pm on Sunday (January 26), students from the seven colleges marched from in front of Dhaka College to the Mukti O Ganatantra Toran. Meanwhile, students of Sir AF Rahman Hall gathered in front of their dormitory.

As a result, the tension in the DU area has escalated, with both groups facing each other. Despite police efforts to calm the situation, both sides continued chanting slogans.

Earlier, at around 10:30 pm, the students lifted their blockade at the Science Lab intersection and entered the Dhaka College campus in a procession. More students from the residential halls of Dhaka College joined them as they moved towards the DU campus, announcing their intention to lay siege to the Pro-Vice Chancellor's residence.

It is worth mentioning that students of the seven government colleges affiliated with DU have been protesting since 6:30 pm by blocking the roads. They are demonstrating against the alleged indecent behaviour by the DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed.
