A mobile court fined a lawyer Tk 10,000 for taking money from a vegetable vendor on a false promise of enrolling him in the government’s special rice sale programme for the poor.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun said the action was taken against Advocate Mamtajur Rahman Bipul, a resident of Asrampara in the Thakurgaon district town, UNB reports.
The lawyer took Tk 2,500 from Alamgir Hossain, a vegetable vendor, promising to issue him a card for OMS (Open sale market) rice. But he did not provide the card, said UNO.
After getting complaint, a mobile court led by UNO, arrested Bipul and fined him.
