A gold shop at Shimanto Square Shopping Mall in the capital's Dhanmondi area has been robbed. The shop named Crown Diamond and Jewellers was robbed during Friday prayers, as per local media reports.
Police are investigating the incident. Police are yet to ascertain how much gold was stolen.
Mohammad Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Model Police Station, said the theft took place at Crown Diamond and Jewellers on the ground floor of Shimanto Square around 1pm. CCTV footage is being monitored, in which gold ornaments are stolen. Work is underway to identify those involved in the theft.
The OC said talks were underway with shop owners, market authorities and market security officers. The case has not yet been filed. But things are in process.
