"These deaths are sad for all of us," the High Court said on Tuesday, according to a local news portal.

The court made the remarks while hearing a writ petition seeking its directives to release six 'so-called' coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement and stop firing.

The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon passed the order after hearing a writ petition.

At the outset of the hearing, lawyer Anik R Haque, one of the writ petitioners, presented a report on the death of six-year-old Riya on the roof of her house in Narayanganj.

At one point, the court said, "These deaths are sad for all of us. At that time, Anik R Haque said, "Correct. When a life goes by, there are no sides. A six-year-old child . . . ’

To the lawyer, the court said, "I will not address emotional issues in my court. We are very ashamed. ’

Lawyer Anik R Haque presented the legal aspect during the hearing. Senior lawyer Sara Hossain stood for the writ petitioner. Additional Attorney General SM Munir, Sheikh Mohammad Morshed and Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury represented the state.

Besides, senior lawyers Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Nurul Islam Sujon, Azhar Ullah Bhuiyan and Shah Monjurul Haque took part in the hearing. The court fixed Wednesday for the next hearing.
