At least three buses have been torched in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh, South Keraniganj and Savar, while crude bombs have detonated in several areas.
Despite the violence overnight on Saturday, no casualties were reported.
Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service Control Room, said that a bus parked in front of Hazaribagh Beribandh Government College caught fire around midnight.
At least two units of the Fire Service reached the scene at 11:55 pm on Saturday and doused the fire.
A Balaka Paribahan bus was set on fire at the Rajendrapur Bus Stand in South Keraniganj around 3:15 am, and a bus operated by Itihas Paribahan was set ablaze at Raj Fulbaria Bus Stand in Savar around 3:45 am.
Lima said it was not clear who started the fires and there were no reports of any casualties.
A crude bomb blast occurred in Hatirjheel’s Madhubagh on Saturday evening. A motorcycle nearby caught fire, but the flames were immediately extinguished.
Another crude bomb exploded in front of the Asian Development Bank in Agargaon around 8:20 pm, and another under the metro rail station near the IDB building in Agargaon around 10:30 pm.
None of the incidents led to any casualties, according to Hatirjheel and Shahbagh police.
