Three buses torched in Dhaka on eve of blockade

Arsonists torched three buses in Dhaka's Gulistan, Mirpur and Kalabagan areas on Saturday night on the eve of BNP and like-minded opposition parties’ countrywide blockade.

Miscreants torched the bus of Rajanigandha Paribahan at 9:15 p.m., said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters (media cell), reports UNB.

On information, two firefighting units of Siddique Bazar fire station reached the spot and extinguished, he added.

Around 10:30 p.m., arsonists set fire to a bus of Trust Paribahan near Bangladesh Krishi Bank at section 13 of Mirpur.

Two fire engines from Mirpur station doused the blaze, said the fire official.

In another incident, miscreants set fire to a bus of Mirpur Metro Service in the Kalabagan bus stand area around 10:52 p.m.

Being informed, two firefighting units from Mohammadpur fire station rushed to the spot and tame the fire.

No casualties were reported, said the officer.
