Three more arrested over Chapainawabganj  bus robbery

Three more suspected robbers  have been arrested in connection with robbery in three buses on Bholahat-Shibganj road in Chapainawabganj.

Twelve mobile phone sets, Tk 19,500, gold ornaments and sharp weapons used during the robbery were recovered from their possession following the arrests.

The arrestees are Rezaul karim, 40, Tajer Ali, 35 and Anarul Islam Anu, 45.

Superintendent of Police AHM Abdul Rakib disclosed the matter at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

However, the time and place of the arrests were not clarified by the officer.

With the recent arrests, a total of seven suspected robbers have been arrested so far.

Four people were arrested on Tuesday night over the robbery.

 “A special team of Rab conducted a drive and arrested four of the gang from different areas of the district on Wednesday midnight. The other members  of the gang will be arrested soon and all the stolen goods will be recovered,” said Captain of Rab-5 Lt. Colonel Ziaur Rahman on Wednesday.

A group of armed men stopped three Dhaka-bound night buses on Monday night and robbed passengers of cash, jewellery and other valuables, police said.

The alleged crime took place near Shonajaal point on Bholahat-Shibganj Road around 8.30pm. The robbers also thrashed 10 people for initially refusing to hand over their belongings, reports UNB.
