Three people were killed following a collision between a motorbike and a bus on Dhaka-Noakhali regional road in front of Intermax Factory in Afania area of Sonaimuri upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Md Tipu, son of Rafiq Ullah of Nazirpur village, Jabed, son of Delwar Hossain, and Harun, son of Shah Alam of Alipur village in Begumganj upazila, reports a news agency.
Abdus Samad, officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri Police Station, said a passenger bus of Ekushey Paribahan collided with the motorcycle in the area around 10:30pm leaving three of the four motorcyclists dead on the spot and another severely injured.
The severely injured Masuk, son of Abdul Matin, was taken to Noakhali General Hospital while the bodies were kept at Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
Police seized the bus and the motorbike while the bus driver managed to escape.
