Three workers sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at a shoe factory in the Bangshal area of Dhaka early Monday.
The incident occurred around 1:40 am at the factory located in Sikkatuli Mazar Goli under Bangshal Police Station.
The injured— Ainuddin, 45, Amir Uddin, 40, and Ruman, 16 —are undergoing treatment at the Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), UNB reports.
Ruman told reporters at the hospital that they were working the night shift when the fire suddenly erupted from an adhesive solution used in the factory.
“The flames spread very quickly. We were all burnt. We somehow managed to reach Dhaka Medical ourselves,” he said.
Md Faruk, in-charge at the hospital police outpost, said the victims arrived at the emergency unit around 2:15 am and were later admitted to the burn unit.
Ainuddin sustained 20 per cent of burns, Amir 10 per cent of burns and Ruman 45 per cent of burns, he added.
