Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said Tk 29.96 billion (Tk 2,964 crore) has been allocated for Election Commission (EC) in the FY2025-26, during which the 13th national election is set to be held.
Of the total allocation to EC, Tk 27.26 billion (Tk 2,726.95 crore) has been designated for operational expenses, and Tk 2.29 billion (Tk 229.05 crore) for development activities.
He expressed the hope that the EC will hold the next parliamentary election in a fair manner.
"One of the goals of the interim government is to establish people's voting rights through a free and fair election and to hand over power to a democratic government," he said on Monday while delivering his speech on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025- 26.
