Transformer blast burns six in old Dhaka

Six students of a madrasha sustained burn injuries as a transformer blasted in Bangshal area of Dhaka on Saturday morning.

The injured were identified as Saber, Sajjad, Ashik, Soleman, Mostakin and Abdur Rahman, all aged between 7-8 years. They are students of Mohammadia Islamia Hafezia Madrasa, a news agency reported.

Dhaka Medical College and Hospital sources said a fire broke out when the transformer exploded near the two-stoery madrasa building around 8:30am, leaving them injured.

The victims were admitted to the burn unit of DMCH, said Bachchu Miah, in charge DMCH police outpost.
