François Valérian, chair of the International Board of Directors of Berlin-based anti-graft body Transparency International (TI), is set to visit Dhaka on a three-day visit starting on Tuesday.
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) announced the development in a press note on Monday.
It will be Valérian’s first trip to Bangladesh since being elected chair of the TI board in 2023.
The visit aims to share global and national experiences on preventing corruption and promoting good governance, and to gain first-hand knowledge of TIB’s activities, opportunities and challenges, the statement read.
During the visit, he will meet TIB staff, leaders of 45 citizen committees under TIB’s Committee of Concerned Citizens (CCC) platform, and 65 youth leaders from Youth Engagement and Support (YES) groups.
He will also exchange views with government and non-government stakeholders, civil society members, and media representatives.
Valérian, a noted academic and researcher, has been a member of TI’s International Board OF Directors since 2019, serving on several key committees.
From 2013 to 2023, he sat on the board of TI-France, focusing on illicit financial flows, strategic legal action and political integrity.
Before that, he led a TI Secretariat initiative that launched policy engagement on financial regulation and anti-corruption at the G20 level.
