A Dhaka court on Sunday imposed a travel ban on the two sons and a daughter of former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury over graft allegations.

The accused are Zeba Zaman, Tanayeem Zaman Chowdhury, and Sadakat Zaman Chowdhury.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Earlier in the day, ACC Deputy Director Md Mashiur Rahman, also the head of the investigation team, submitted the petition, citing concerns that the individuals might attempt to flee the country, potentially obstructing the investigation process.

The ACC informed the court that a joint task force has been formed to investigate allegations of money laundering involving former minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, as well as persons and entities connected to his financial interests.

The task force includes representatives from the ACC, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

To ensure a fair and uninterrupted investigation, the ACC requested the court to prevent the accused from leaving the country.

In a separate development, the same court ordered the attachment of two land plots in Purbachal and Uttara in the name of former Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Osman, as part of an ongoing corruption probe by the ACC.

The court also ordered the freezing of Tk 128.77 million across 29 bank accounts held by Shamim Osman, his wife Salma Osman, son Imtinan Osman, daughter Labiba Joha Angana, daughter-in-law Irfana Ahmed Rashmi, and other individuals allegedly linked to his financial interests.
