The trial of 25 accused in a case filed over the killing of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad has started in a Dhaka court.

Barkat Ullah, victim’s father and also the plaintiff of the case, was testified in the court of Judge Abu Zafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 on Monday, reports BSS.

The court fixed October 6 (Tuesday) for the next hearing as the defence for the accused Anik Sarkar could not compete cross-examination of the complainant.

The body of Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET, was recovered from the corridor between the ground floor and second floor stairs of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET on October 7, 2019

The next day at noon, the autopsy of Abrar was completed at the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital Morgue.

The victim’s father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case with Chawkbazar police station.

Twenty-two of the accused—now in jail-were produced before the tribunal during Monday’s hearing.

Three others have remained absconding since the case was filed.

On September 15, Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Judge Abu Zafar Kamruzzaman framed charges against the accused.
