A motorcycle passenger has died after his vehicle crashed into a truck in Rajshahi’s Mohonpur, sparking a fire.
The accident occurred near the Kalitola Flour Mill in Kesharhat Municipality around 5:30 am on Thursday, according to Ataur Rahman, chief of Mohonpur Police Station.
Police say the victim was identified as Ismail Hossain according to the National ID found in his pocket. He hailed from Hazrapara village in the Upazila, reports bdnews24.com.
The truck and the motorcycle collided head-on, sparking the fire and killing Ismail on the spot, police said. The truck then veered off the road and overturned.
The truck driver and assistant could not be found following the accident.
Ismail’s body has been recovered and brought to the police station and the truck and motorcycle have been seized, OC Ataur said.
Preparations are under way to take legal action over the incident, he said.
