Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam announced on Wednesday that indiscriminate parking of trucks on roads in the Tejgaon area will permanently stop after the completion of a modern truck stand currently under construction.

The DNCC Mayor made this statement in response to a question during a programme held at the Dhaka District Awami League office at Tejgaon.

The event included an inspection and discussion on the new film exhibition titled "Bangabandhu to Sheikh Hasina in the Course of History."

Organised by the Dhaka District Awami League, the program marked the 75th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Awami League and the historic Six-Point Day.

Mayor Atiqul Islam pointed out that a large number of trucks often occupy the roads in Tejgaon. "When I arrive, the trucks leave; when I leave, they return. It's much like Tom and Jerry," he remarked humorously.

He mentioned that the city corporation has secured land from the Prime Minister to address this issue. "Around 15 bighas of land from BTCL and the Housing Authority in Tejgaon has been allocated to the DNCC. We will soon construct a modern truck stand there, which will permanently stop trucks from occupying the roads in Tejgaon," he added.

The DNCC Mayor also toured the entire exhibition at the beginning of the program.

He said, "As long as Bangladesh exists, the history of the Liberation War and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu will remain. The true history of Bangladesh is the sacrifice and struggle of Bangabandhu and his family to achieve our red-green flag."

The programme was chaired by Dhaka District Awami League President Benazir Ahmad, MP, and moderated by its General Secretary Paniruzzaman Tarun.

Among others, the event was attended by Dhaka District Awami League Vice President Masud Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary Halima Akhter Labanya, Sakur Hossain Saku, Habibur Rahman Habib, and Office Secretary Arman Hossain Apu.
