A Turkish Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka on Tuesday morning, following a suspected engine fire.

Flight TK713, an Airbus A330-303 carrying 291 passengers, departed from Dhaka at 7:00 am local time, en route to Istanbul, Turkey.

According to airport sources, about 15 minutes after takeoff, the pilot noticed sparks in one of the aircraft's two engines. In response, the pilot initiated emergency procedures and decided to return to the airport.

The aircraft circled in the sky for over an hour to burn excess fuel before safely landing at 8:15 am.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft following the landing.
