Two arrested over shisha bar murder in city

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in murder of businessman Rahat Hossain Rabbi (31) at '360 Degree' Shisha Lounge' in the capital's Banani area on Thursday.

The names of the arrestees are Maksudur Rahman Hamja (26) and Munna (27).

A switch gear knife used in the act of murder was also recovered.

RAB-1 commander Lieutenant Colonel Ashiqur Rahman made the disclosure at a press briefing at its office in the city on Saturday.

He said that the duo were arrested from Barura upazila in Cumilla district on Friday.

He said that the incident of murder occurred around 4:30am on Thursday on the stairs of the '360 Degree Shisha Bar' located at House No. 100, Road No.11 in the capital's Banani area.

He said that on August 14 Rahat Hossain Rabbi, a businessman involved in setting up internet line, along with his friend Nurul Islam Khokon went to the '360 Degree Shisha Lounge'.

He said that on the night of the incident, Rahat reportedly asked Munna to leave the lounge around 1:00am which escalated the conflict and led to the stabbing.

He said that on August 14 Maksudur Rahman Hamja and Munna and six to seven others waylaid Rahat Hossain Rabbi while he was coming down to the first floor from the third floor through the stairs.
