Two Chittagong University students on life support following clash

Two Chittagong University students injured in the clash with villagers are in “critical condition”, Chattogram District Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam has said.

“The two have been kept on life support in the ICU of Parkview Hospital,” he told bdnews24.com on Monday.

Another student, who sustained a ruptured blood vessel, could not be treated in Chattogram and was transferred to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Dhaka for advanced treatment.

According to the District Civil Surgeon's Office, the students in critical condition are Imtiaz Sayem and Abdullah Al Mamun, while the student transferred to Dhaka is Naimul Islam.

Sayem is a student of the Department of International Relations, and Mamun is a student of the Department of Sociology. Naimul is a student of the Department of Islamic Studies.

In the afternoon, the Chattogram District Civil Surgeon's Office reported that more than 300 people received treatment at the Chittagong University medical centre, 114 at the Chattogram Medical College Hospital, and 30 at different private hospitals in the city following clashes with villagers.
