Two people died and at least six others were injured in a stampede during a 'Jashne Julus' procession marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi in Chattogram on Saturday.
The incident took place around 12 noon in the Muradpur area of the port city.
The deceased were identified as Ayub Ali, 60, from Patiya upazila of Chattogram, and Saiful Islam, 13, from the city’s Kalamia Bazar area. They were rescued in critical condition and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
Hospital police outpost official Sohel Rana confirmed the deaths, adding that one of the injured is in critical condition and has been kept in the ICU.
