At least two people were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Sathia upazila of Pabna district on Tuesday.
Police said the accident occurred around 7:30 am near the Sholabarhia Bridge at Madhpur on the Pabna–Dhaka Highway under Ataikula Police Station in the upazila.
Madhpur Highway Police chief (OC) Mustafizar Rahman said a Shahjadpur Travels bus was heading to Dhaka from Pabna in the morning. Near the Sholabarhia Bridge, it collided head-on with a Machhranga Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction.
One person died on the spot, and several others were injured in the accident, reports bdnews24.com.
Police and locals rescued the injured and sent them to different hospitals. Another person died on the way to Pabna General Hospital.
The OC said the names of the deceased and the injured could not be confirmed immediately.
However, one of the two deceased was the driver of the Shahjadpur Travels bus and the other was a helper of the Machhranga Paribahan bus, he added.
