Two suspected drug pedlars were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in BSCIC area under sadar upazila of Feni early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Mamun Morshed, 35, and Md Al-Amin, 25.
RAB-7 Camp Company Captain Squadron Leader Shafayet Jamil said RAB troops set up a checkpost in the area to search passengers, at one point they obstructed two men on a motorcycle.
As they tried to flee, the elite force members engaged in a chase after them.
At one stage, the young men opened fire on the RAB personnel, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight which left Morshed and Al-Amin dead on the spot, UNB reported.
The team recovered 25,000 pieces of Yaba pills from the oil-tank of the motorcycle, one foreign pistol and five bullets from the spot.
