Two Bangladeshi expatriates were killed in accidents in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, respectively, on Monday, according to their families.

The victims were identified as Saudi expatriate Md Mizan, 48, son of late Ershad Mijhi of Faridganj upazila of Chandpur, and Malaysian expatriate Asadul Islam, 40, son of Hatem Ali Sardar in Sharsha upazila of Jashore.

Mizan’s paternal cousin Manik, who is also a Saudi expatriate, said a speeding vehicle crashed into a vegetable-laden vehicle driven by the victim in Muhayil Asir area of the Middle East country around 2am (local time), leaving him critically injured, reports UNB.

Later, locals took him to a nearby hospital where physicians declared him dead, he said.

A process was underway to send his body back home, Manik said, adding that Mizan had been in Saudi for the past 22 years.

Away in Malaysia, construction worker Asadul died on the spot when a heavy metal fell on his head while working on a crane in Subang Jaya city around 11am (local time), according to his father Hatem Ali.

Asadul moved to Malaysia around eight years back with a hope to change his fortune.

Both the families sought government support to bring back the bodies.
