They passed away in the early hours of Saturday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, younger brother of AKM Shahjahan Kamal and pro-vice-chancellor (academic) of Dhaka University, confirmed the death of his elder brother, reports UNB.
He said the former civil aviation minister breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka around 3:30 am.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the south plaza of the parliament at 11 am today, and he will be laid to rest at the family graveyard after a second Janaza followed by Asr prayer at Laharkandi union in Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur.
Shahjahan Kamal, a heroic freedom fighter and former president of the district unit of Awami League, was elected from the Lakshmipur-3 constituency in the 2014 and 2018 elections with the boat symbol.
He served as minister for aviation and tourism for around one year after winning the 2018 election.
Meanwhile, bdnews24.com said Ukil Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan passed away around 3 am on Saturday in Dhaka's Evercare Hospital.
He was suffering from kidney ailments for a long time, his son Mainul Hasan Tushar said. He was hospitalised a week ago after his condition deteriorated.
Born on Jan 16, 1939, Sattar was a native of Paramanandopur village in Brahmanbaria's Sarail Upazila.
He was a lawyer at the Brahmanbaria court. Sattar held the post of Brahmanbaria BNP president for a long time. He was elected Cumilla-1 MP in 1979 as an independent candidate.
In the 1991 and 1996 elections, Sattar was elected Brahmanbaria-2 MP as a BNP nominee.
He served as state minister for law, fisheries and land during the rule of the BNP.
Sattar, however, stepped back from politics after the 2008 election. In 2018, he was elected to parliament again as a BNP candidate. Last year, he resigned from parliament, along with all other BNP MPs, in line with the party's directives.
He contested the subsequent bypoll for the Brahmanbaria-2 seat he vacated as an independent candidate. He won the bypoll and became an MP again.
