Two minor children drowned in a water body while collecting water lilies at Royosree village in Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Lamia Akter, 5, daughter of Shohag Mia and his granddaughter Samiya Akter, 5, of the same village.
The incident happened when the victims came to a water body near their house to collect water lily around noon, but they did not return home till the evening, said Selim Patwary, chairman of Royosree Urrat Union Parishad, UNB reports.
After a frantic search in and around, locals found their floating bodies in the afternoon, he added.
The bodies were rushed to a local hospital where the duty doctor declared them dead.
