Two brothers, who were reported ‘missing’ since Saturday evening, were found dead in separate upazilas in Jashore.

The victims were identified as Farooq Hossain, 50, and Azizul Islam, 45, reports bdnews24.com.

The two left home on Saturday evening and never returned, their brother Saidul Silam said.

Police members believe Azizul, who is a suspect in a drug-related case, was killed in a shootout between two drug gangs.

Sharsha police found Azizul’s bullet-ridden body at a garden.

The second body was found in Keshabpur Upazila. Saidul identified the man as Farooq.

Azizul’s body was reported by Dhantara villagers on Sunday, said Sharsha Police OC Humayun Kabir.

“Two gangs of drug dealers engaged in a gunfight in the area. We believe Azizul was killed in the crossfire. He is also a known local drug dealer,” the police official said.

At least seven cases were filed against Azizul with various police stations in the district said Bagachra Police Camp SI Abdur Rahim Howladar.

Police received a report about the second body from a pond in Keshabpur’s Rampur area.

“The deceased had a wound on his neck. An autopsy will tell whether it was a bullet wound,” said Keshabpur Police OC Mohammad Shaheen.

Local officials could not identify the body, said Keshabpur SI Wahiduzzaman.

It was taken to the Jashore General Hospital morgue as an ‘unidentified body’ that afternoon. Saidul identified the body as his missing brother.

Saidul told the media at the hospital that the two had left home together at 7pm to go shopping.

The family began looking for them after they did not return by 10pm.Police were informed of the situation.
