Two motorcyclists die in Narsingdi road crash

Two friends riding a motorcycle have died after their vehicle collided head-on with an autorickshaw in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi.

Two others were injured in the accident that occurred around 8:30 pm on Monday on the Shibpur-Manohardi road in Pacharbari, according to Shibpur Model Police Station chief (OC) Afzal Hossain.

The dead men were identified as Mahmudul Hasan Raj, 22, son of Moktar Hossain of Uttar Joymangal village in Shibpur, and Shafiq, 21, son of Abdul Jalil, of Sanmania village in Gazipur's Kapasia Upazila.

Police recovered their bodies and sent them to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, reports bdnews24.com.

The injured have been admitted to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex. They were not immediately identified.

Police and relatives of the victims say that Raj and Shafiq were heading to Shibpur on a motorcycle from Monohardi after finishing their business tasks. On the way, the two-wheeler collided head-on with an autorickshaw carrying passengers.

The motorcycle was severely damaged and Raj died on the spot. Locals rescued Shafiq from the scene but he died on the way to the hospital.

OC Afzal said, “It is assumed that the accident occurred as the motorcycle was speeding. We are taking necessary legal actions over the incident.”
