Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged police shootout in Brahmanbaria’s Sarail.

The incident took place late on Saturday night on the Shahbazpur-Dewra regional road, said Sarail Police Station OC Mafizul Islam.

The bodies were identified as Bashar, 33, and Enta, 32.

“The two detained robbers were taken on a weapons raid by police,” the OC said. “Along the way the team was attacked by their accomplices, who were trying to free them. Police returned fire. Both the robbers were shot.”

The ‘robbers’ were taken to the Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, where the doctors declared them dead.
Police said five police officials, including Sarail Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Moniruzzaman Fakir, were injured in the ‘shootout’.

A pipe gun and two cartridges were recovered from the scene, said bdnews24 citing OC Mafizul.
