Two Rohingya 'drug traders' killed in reported gunfight with police

Two Rohingya 'drug traders' were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Jadimura camp area in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Alam, son of Bacha Miah of Noyapara camp and Mohammad Rafiq, son of Ali Hossain, a resident of Jadimura camp.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, said on information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight that left the duo dead on the spot.

Two sub-inspectors Sabbir and Babul and police constable Main Uddin were also injured in the shootout, reports a news agency.

Police also seized two pistols, seven rounds of bullet, and 2200 Yaba tablets from the spot.
