Uttarkhan Thana Police arrested the duo in a raid conducted in Faridpur Railway Station area on Tuesday morning.

Police also seized two mobile phones, a key ring and a bank VISA card from their possession.

Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Division Md Mohidul Islam confirmed their arrest in a news briefing at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Immediately after the murder, police seized a sharp object, a knife used in the murder and blood-stained clothes and bed sheets from the victim's flat at Uttarkhan.

Md Syfur Rahman Bhuiyan was murdered in flat no. 6 on the fourth floor of a six-story building in Puranpara Batan area under Uttarkhan Police Station between 2:00 am and 4:00 am on Monday.

His younger brother Mohammad Lutfar Rahman Bhuiyan filed a murder case with Uttarkhan Police Station on March 11, 2025 as the plaintiff.

According to the case statement, the victim Md Syfur Rahman Bhuiyan had been living as a tenant in a house in Puranpara Batan area of Uttarkhan for the last 3/4 months to build a house on his wife's ancestral property.

On Monday afternoon, the plaintiff received news that his elder brother had been hit in various parts of his body by unknown persons with sharp weapons and left inside his bedroom.

The local people rescued the victim and took him to a local hospital for treatment.

Later, he died around 7.00 am while undergoing treatment.

Uttarkhan Police sent the body to Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital for autopsy.

Uttarkhan Police solved the mystery of the murder case in less than 12 hours with the help of CCTV footage analysis from the area around the crime scene, intelligence information and technology, the police official said.

During the preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that two to three days before the incident took place, the victim Md Syfur Rahman Bhuiyan was introduced to the arrested Md. Nazim Hossain and Rupa Begum alias Jannati at Kamalapur Railway Station.

The victim brought the arrestees to his flat after the introduction.

"At one stage, Bhuiyan started torturing them physically and mentally," police said, adding that he also sexually tortured Jannati.

The detainees out of excessive anger and rage to get rid of the torture, severely hit Syfur Rahman Bhuiyan with a sharp object on Monday night.

The victim died of excessive bleeding as a result of the injury.

During the initial interrogation, the arrestees confessed their involvement in the murder.
