Two warehouses in old Dhaka burnt in fire incidents

A shoe warehouse and a garment warehouse in old Dhaka area were burnt in separate fire incidents on Thursday night.

UNB said a fire that broke out in a shoe warehouse at Alu Bazar in Old Dhaka on Thursday night was put out after a frantic effort.

The fire started around 9pm on the second floor of an eight-story building.

On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 9:30 pm, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of fire service and civil defence headquarters (media cell).

No injuries or casualties were reported in the fire, he added.

In another fire that broke out at a garment warehouse in Babu Bazar's Lion Tower around 9pm was also doused.

Two firefighting units from Sadarghat Fire Station rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control at 9:20pm.

The fire was completely doused around 9:40pm, the fire official added.

The origin of the fires could not be immediately determined.
