The Sylhet district administration has ordered looted white stones from the Shada Pathor tourist site to be returned by 5pm on Tuesday, 26 August.

The directive came from a meeting with local representatives and businessmen from Companiganj and Sylhet Sadar upazilas, according to local media reports.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Padmasan Singh said the stones must be delivered to Dumping Station No. 10 at Bholaganj by the deadline.

“Anyone who fails to comply will face legal measures,” he warned.

A participant in the meeting said the stones must be returned at individuals’ own initiative and expense.

They added that those who fail to comply would face legal action for illegally buying, selling, storing or transporting the stones.

Local upazila administrations have also used loudspeakers and social media to spread the directive.

Officials said the measures were taken to ensure the order reached all concerned in time so that they could meet the deadline.

During the meeting, the district administration reminded local representatives of their responsibility and asked them to ensure the stones were returned.
