The United States has authorised the voluntary departure of nonemergency embassy personnel and their families in Dhaka due to security concerns, the State Department said on Wednesday.
“We authorized the voluntary departure of nonemergency personnel and family members at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka,” Spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters in response to a question during a regular press briefing in Washington, D.C. “The embassy does remain open to provide consular and other services to United States citizens who are in Bangladesh.”
The Department urged US citizens in Bangladesh to contact the embassy for any concerns.
